<p>I Keep People Accountable.</p>
<p>I have become successful myself by working consistently and working hard. I expect people associated with me to do the same. And I am not afraid to hold their feet to the fire to achieve results.</p>
<p>We now live in a disturbing period of history where &#8220;anything goes.&#8221; For whatever reasons, most people don&#8217;t set objectives for themselves and don&#8217;t insist that the people they work with have these objectives and meet them. Well, I&#8217;m not so lax.</p>
<p>I have giant expectations for myself and I know that unless the people associated with me achieve their expectations I cannot achieve mine. These two positions are inextricably linked. To get mine&#8230; you must achieve yours. Thus, I must not only set expectations for myself; I must help you set &#8212; and achieve &#8212; expectations for yourself.</p>
<p>Thus, I have become the nudge par excellence.</p>
<p>Why, just when I was writing this, one of my downline called me to ask a question. Or, at least he thought he had called to query me. In fact, he had called so I could put him through the inquisition.</p>
<p>- what had he been doing since he signed up?<br />
- was he now on ADR for the products?<br />
- had he purchased his marketing materials?<br />
- how much time per week/per day was he spending?<br />
- what was happening when he contacted prospects, etc?</p>
<p>In short, a man who called to quiz me, quickly found that he was going to be quizzed within an inch of his life.</p>
<p>And in this case, as in so many cases, I didn&#8217;t like the superficial, unpersuasive answers I got, either. What did I do?</p>
<p>I told the caller to get a piece of paper and a pencil and to write down my marching orders for him, the things I insisted he do within the next 30 days to achieve success.<br />
Was the fellow pleased at being so directed? Not bloody likely. But, unanswerably, I asked him to review his history since joining this opportunity. &#8220;How many people have you recruited in the last 30 days?&#8221;</p>
<p>Answer: &#8220;No one.&#8221; That answer made him a follower, not a leader. It made him a person who still needed to follow directions, not give them. As such, as the proven leader, I was well within rights to bark orders at him&#8230; and bark I did. Including one final order: &#8220;Call me in 14 days and give me a status report. Within this period, I expect you to recruit at least two people. Understand?&#8221;</p>

<p>It is not your talents or abilities, but your choices that ultimately decide your fate.</p>
<p>You ARE your choices.</p>
<p>Until you can look at yourself in the mirror and honestly say, “I have a choice.  I am here now because of the choices I’ve made in the past,” you will never be able to say, “I choose differently.”</p>
<h3>2.  “Let’s get started!”</h3>
<p>You can’t build anything wonderful with ideas of what you are going to do someday.  If you want something, you have to make a little noise, declare it andthen get started.</p>
<p>A goal is far more than a mental exercise.  In fact, without the intent of action a goal is nothing more than a lie.  Make your decisions real and present in your life; give them the time and attention they deserve.</p>

<h3>3.  “I have what it takes.”</h3>
<p>The worst enemy of today is your self-doubt.  The moment you doubt whether you can do something is the moment it becomes impossible for you.</p>
<p>You have to believe in yourself.  You have to trust yourself.  You might be nervous, but don’t you ever let any source of negativity in the world convince you that you don’t have what it takes.</p>
<p>Give yourself a pep talk if you need one.  State some facts, some evidence of your greatness.  Recall your past victories.  Speak them out loud – “I aced that test.”  “I earned that big raise.”  “I ran that 5K without stopping.”  “My best friend loved my wedding speech.”  And so on and so forth…  Give a positive voice to your past victories and you will find the strength to repeat history.</p>

<p>First off, I want to stress that your first 3-6 months of network marketing is your time to LEARN and absorb as much as you possibly can from people whom you enjoy and KNOW are successful.</p>
<p>These people are your mentors. And since there is no one network marketing guru out there who knows all…you need to find your own mentors and learn from their successes.</p>
<p>I’m not really into cliche phrases, but there’s one I’ve got to use because it really hits home. It goes like this:</p>
<p>Go slow to go fast.</p>
<p>Brilliant eh?</p>
<p>Most of us sign up with Nu Skin because something in our life is not the way we would like it to be. We want to make things better (rightly so) – and the last thing we want to do is waste our efforts with a part time business that doesn’t make us any money.</p>
<p>Well, get used to it, cause that’s the reality.</p>
<p>Just about every network marketer spends a period of months learning about network marketing and developing their skills before they begin to see results.</p>
<p>So, knowing this, accept it and begin pacing yourself so you can enjoy your time growing as a Nu Skin Distributor.</p>
<p>Who needs the stress of:</p>
<p>I need to make money NOW!</p>
<p>The money will come when you’re ready. Trust me it will flow.</p>
<p>In the meantime, use your time productively. Learn the skills of networking and how to utilize technology and social media to leverage your time.</p>
<p>Here are three steps for where to spend your time each day.</p>
<p>Spend 30 minutes on personal development. A book or resource of your choice – you know what you need.<br />
Find successful Nu Skin leaders who you know are successful and whose style you enjoy. Follow them online – as a student of marketing, critically look at what they are doing to build their businesses.<br />
Take action by committing to market yourself and your business every day. This means increasing your exposures either through talking with people about your business/product or creating an online presence to increase your exposures over time.<br />
Go and explore, enjoy yourself and remember &#8211; this is a marathon, not a sprint!</p>
<p>The people who stick with it for the long term and keep their vision clear are the people who succeed in this industry.</p>

<p>If you&#8217;re like most people I talk to, you started out in search of more freedom, money and to live a life on your own terms, doing your own thing.</p>
<p><strong>Without your WHY you will never ever achieve what you want in life or Nu Skin</strong>.</p>
<p>When we started out on this adventure towards what we wanted most in life, we didn&#8217;t know why. And I wish someone would have sent this message to me. Because had I focused on WHY, I&#8217;d be so much further along and clearer than I was for many months and even years</p>
<p>Here is my WHY&#8230;</p>
<p>&#8220;I believe that we all have greatness inside. Each and everyone of us. It is our purpose or mission in life to tap into that greatness and share it with the world. For some, it may be sharing it with another person, yet for others it is to change the lives of many; either way, by discovering this greatness and sharing it with the world is where we find purpose, fulfillment, and leave our impact on the world out legacy.</p>
<p>Our goal is to help others discover that greatness inside, help them determine how to best share it with the world and propel them towards living your life to the fullest, to the UNLIMITED YOU.&#8221;</p>
<p>You see your WHY is the thing that INSPIRES you.</p>
<p>Your WHY is the reason your willing to do WHATEVER IT TAKES.</p>
<p>And MOST IMPORTANTLY your WHY is WHY others will listen to you, sign up in your Nu Skin business, engage with you on Facebook, etc.</p>

<p>I’ve discovered that the biggest things that derail productivity in my day are those things that</p>
<ul>
<li>I know how to do</li>
<li>I like doing</li>
<li>I get praise when I do them well</li>
<li>Others could do</li>
<li>Take me away from what only I can do</li>
</ul>
<p>&nbsp;<br />
Let’s agree on something right now. There are some things that only you (or I) can do.</p>
<p>We have the skill, experience, voice and access to do the thing that only we can do. But when we get focused on something else – with anything else – we’ve stepped out of the realm of high performance and are now hanging out with a group that could only be called “distracted.”</p>
<p><strong>We’re stealing opportunities</strong></p>
<p>It’s not just that we’re distracted. The truth is that we’re also robbing our downline of opportunities to learn and grow. When we do it all we’re naturally limiting the opportunities that we could have been creating for others to learn and grow. We know it’s not good, but we keep doing it.</p>
<p>So how do we get past it? How do we ensure we’re creating opportunities for our downline (to learn and grow) while also focusing on successfully advancing our Nu Skin business?</p>
<p>Easy. Create a NOT TO DO list.</p>
<p><strong>My NOT TO DO list</strong></p>
<p>I love playing with technology and creating new online tools for our downline. But I shouldn’t be messing with any of those. There’s no need. So until I hear of a need, it’s on my NOT TO DO list.</p>
<p>I could go on with all the things on my NOT TO DO list, but that’s not the point. I think  you get the concept. That’s the easy part. The hard part is creating your own list. Because only you know what gets in your way. Only you know what derails you. Only you know what woos you, even if it shouldn’t.</p>
<p>So go get started. Define what you aren’t willing to do, and find others who will do it (even if they take longer).</p>

Be ambitious enough to fail, and be OK with it.</strong> – If you never fail, then your Nu Skin goals are not nearly ambitious enough.  Comfort is state of being in which to find rest and renewal for a short time; it is a dreary and dismal place to remain permanently.  If you don’t challenge yourself on a regular basis, your abilities and effectiveness will become stale and weak.  The reason life can be so rewarding is precisely because it can be so difficult.  When your efforts are met with failure, you know you are on to something; because on the flip-side of that failure is a real, substantial accomplishment that doesn’t come easy.  Your failed attempt is simply evidence that you are reaching higher.  And higher is always the best direction to travel in.</p>
<p><strong>4.</strong> <strong>Choose to push forward even when it hurts.</strong> – You have the potential to reach greatness, but you have to choose it.  To reach greatness, sacrifices must be made.  You have to be willing to dig deeper within yourself, push harder, and climb higher every day.  When obstacles arise, as they will, you must break through them because you know it’s the only option.  Yes, there will be pain, there will be sweat, and there will be suffering.  But where others fall and give up, you must choose to rise again and try again.  Everyone makes a choice, one way or the other.  Have you made yours?</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Are you looking to grow your Nu Skin business or just looking for reasons to be a little more excited when you get out of bed every morning.</p>
<p>Maybe you want to launch a dream.</p>
<p>Maybe you’ve worked up the courage to want to do something epic.</p>
<p>Even if you haven’t shared that dream with anyone yet. Even if it’s still something private.</p>
<p>If you do have a secret dream, congratulations. Because a commitment to doing something great — something that makes us catch our breath a little — will take you farther than anything else will.</p>
<p>But you don’t build something epic just by getting a wild hair. Whatever you’re building — if it’s worthbuilding — you’ll go through three phases.</p>
<h3>1. Dare</h3>
<p>If you’re going to build something — a  Nu Skin business — that takes our breath away, it has to take your breath away first.</p>
<p>I love baby steps, and that’s what I teach. I believe in baby steps.</p>
<p>But baby steps toward something that really gets your motor running … that’s much more satisfying.</p>
<p>That dare is the big step. Once you’ve let yourself dream about something really big, the rest of it is logistics.</p>
<p>Whether you create your dream exactly the way you see it in your head isn’t the point. Daring is the point.</p>
<h3>2. Prepare</h3>
<p>If you’re planning a jump from 128,100 feet that will take your body up to 833.9 miles per hour in free fall … you’re going to need to do some prep.</p>
<p>The greater the mission, the more preparation you’re going to need.</p>
<p>You probably don’t know everything you need to know to make your breathtaking dream happen. (If you did, it would just be a “pretty big” dream, which isn’t as much fun.)</p>
<p>So educate yourself.</p>
<p>Your dream probably isn’t something you can do all at once. It will happen in stages. Figure out what those stages are.</p>
<p>Take practice jumps. Work out the problems that come up at 10,000 feet before you climb to 128,000.</p>
<p>This is what most people call “the hard part.”</p>
<p>You know what I call it? The fun part.</p>
<p>This is what you’ll look back on later with great fondness and a hell of a grin on your face.</p>
<p>This is what pulls you out of bed in the morning so you can get started on the next milestone.</p>
<p>Solving problems, gaining knowledge, pushing out experiments … this is what being a human being is about. Enjoy it. Learn from it.</p>
<h3>3. Jump</h3>
<p>I hate the saying, “Leap, and the net will appear.”</p>
<p>That is a lousy maxim when you’re heading for the ground at over 800 miles an hour.</p>
<p>Build your net. Study your net. Understand your net.</p>
<p>Felix Baumgartner and Red Bull started working on their legendary space jump in 2005, and didn’t actually make the jump until this week in 2012.</p>
<p>It took seven years to perfect the net. To work out the kinks and understand all the angles.</p>
<p>Realize that the net can never give you 100% certainty.</p>
<p>Jump anyway. It’s a hell of a ride.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Let&#8217;s face you are going to get lots of advice from both upline and crossline leaders as you build your Nu Skin business. Unfortunately there will be times you should ignore that advice.</p>
<p>Here are 4 phrases you may hear from people that I have learned are clues that you should turn around and head the opposite direction as fast as possible.</p>
<p><strong>1.</strong> <strong>&#8220;Don&#8217;t ask questions about what your upline is telling you&#8221;</strong></p>
<p>Ugh. If anyone ever says that to you the first thing out of your mouth should be, “Why not?” If they persist in their obstinacy find someone else to partner with. Your job is to ask questions. And it’s one of the ways you grow and find new and creative ways to be successful.</p>
<p><strong>2. &#8220;We&#8217;ve tried that and it does not work&#8221;</strong></p>
<p>The conversation could look something like this:</p>
<p><strong>You:</strong> “I don’t know, maybe you didn’t have what it takes to make it work.”</p>
<p><strong>Them:</strong> “And you do?”</p>
<p>(This is when you put on that smug little grin that drives people nuts.)</p>
<p>No, don’t be smug.</p>
<p>But you never know: you just might have the angle or the outlook that a particular challenge needs to succeed. And it doesn’t really matter if you succeed or not. Even if you fail your ability to remain creative  will provide a footing for you to build toward future successes.</p>
<p><strong>3. &#8220;Don&#8217;t try anything stupid&#8221;</strong></p>
<p>You kill creativity and innovation when you worry about what other people think about you.</p>
<p><strong>4. &#8220;It&#8217;s never been done before&#8221;</strong></p>
<p>I don’t know about you, but when I hear that phrase I immediately think challenge. I’m a sucker for a challenge. And I like to prove people wrong.</p>
<p>There was a <em>Harper’s Weekly</em> article (“The Usefulness of Useless Knowledge”) that was written back in 1939.</p>
<p>The article was about the role uninhibited curiosity played in technological breakthroughs—discoveries that would never occur under regimented conditions.</p>
<p>In essence, the writer argued that pragmatic purposes are not behind breakthroughs. What’s at work is sheer curiosity—allowing someone to explore an idea simply for the sake of satisfying that curiosity.</p>
<p>While those curiosity driven explorations might not end in a significant discovery, those explorations pile up until someone pulls all that information together—and boom. We have a substantial breakthrough.</p>
<p>And that, my friends, is why creativity is so important in your Nu Skin business and why you should support and reward it in your own organization.</p>

<p>The most common question I get is &#8220;What makes a strong Executive?&#8221;</p>
<p>If you answered, &#8220;When I get 3000 points&#8221; you would be only partly correct. The real answer and the one I have been explaining for 27 years is &#8220;When you have LOTS of product users in your group&#8221;. </p>
<p>According to Nu Skin these are the facts.</p>
<p>1. New Executives that grace in Month 1, 83% fallout within 6 months</p>
<p>2. New Executives that do not grace in Month 1, 53% are still Executives 6 months later</p>
<p>3. New Executives at 3000 points in Month 1, 60% are still Executives 6 months later</p>
<p>4. For New Executives at 3000 points and have 12 product users in Month 1, 68% are still Executives 6 months later</p>
<p>Now here is the BIG ONE, drum roll please&#8230;A New Executive that has 12 or more product users in Month 1 is nearly 5X more likely to maintain<br />
Executive status compared to a New Executive that has 5 or fewer product users in Month 1</p>
<p>Ok&#8230;it&#8217;s your choice, focus only on finding &#8220;business builders&#8221; or focus on having lots of product users in your group and enjoying a 500% better success rate.</p>
<p>Never follow a duplication model that does NOT make product users a first priority. Business builders come from a strong base of product users not the other way around.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>We all know how hard it can be to motivate ourselves – motivating other people, and inspiring them to work jointly towards a goal, can be even trickier. Here are some thoughts on how you might want to go about it. First, a couple of points to be cautious about:</p>
<p>No-one is motivated by being treated bad. These methods may work in the short-term, but they build up long-term resentment.</p>
<p>The very essence of fear is negative and over time has diminishing effects.</p>
<p>Instead of ruling with an iron fist – try these ways of motivating your Nu Skin team:</p>
<p><strong>Say Thank You</strong></p>
<p>This is particularly important in a voluntary role. Thank your team for their contributions, on a regular basis. Make a particular point of thanking them for anything above and beyond the call of duty. Let them know that you noticed, and that you’re grateful.</p>
<p><strong>Bring a Team-Wide Gift</strong></p>
<p>An inexpensive gift for your team – such as a box of donuts, a selection of good chocolates, or a lunch out – can be a great way to reward people and to make them feel appreciated. Unexpected gifts go a long way towards building a friendly and motivating Nu Skin team environment.</p>
<p><strong>Share Your Vision</strong></p>
<p>It’s easy to feel isolated as a single distributor, separated from the big picture. Some distributors may not have much understanding of the role they’re playing within the team as a whole. Bring everyone together once in a while (ideally with some nice food or drink!) to share progress and explain how everyone’s actions are building to something greater.<strong></strong></p>
<p>Distributors will often feel strong fulfillment from realizing that they&#8217;re actually making a difference. This realization often requires clear communication about goals.</p>
<p><strong>Talk To Your Team Members</strong></p>
<p>Make time to chat with your team members. Ask them about any concerns or problems that they have. If you’re accommodating towards your team, they’re much more likely to go the extra mile for you.</p>
